We had a range of ideas to use as our record label some being already existing labels such as "fueledbyramen" who are the record label for big bands who are of the same genre as us such as Paramore. In the end we didn't use this record label because they also deal with many other bands who are not of the rock genre and we want our band to be part of a record label who are attached to only one genre of music.
Another record label that we looked in to using was Adeline Records. This company linked most with our band as they represent bands such as Green Day. This tells us that this record label is heavily involved with this genre as they are represented by such a popular and successful band within this genre. The reasons that we didn't use this label is that it would be to high end for our band as they deal with band who are of a very high standard and how are well recognised by a lot of people so it wouldn't fit well with the band.
We came up with the name "Kushty Media" as it was an original name that gave the band that extra bit of originality. The word "Kushty" is another word for calm or chilled. So we wanted to give this effect to the record label as it also signify that the band it represents are very original and different to others. This links with the logo as one of the points on the star is a different colour to represent being different. This also allowed us to apply Stuart Halls theory of encoding in to the record label as the message we wanted to get out of people who are looking at this is that the main theme is originality. This was the record label that we chose in the end as we felt it best suited the band and the genre.
